Morris Bailey, owner of the Resorts Atlantic City land-based operation in New Jersey, has claimed that online gaming operator PokerStars is close to securing a licence to commence operations in the US state.
Reuben Kramer, a staff writer at The Press of Atlantic City newspaper, yesterday (Thursday) posted a message on social media network Twitter that quoted Bailey as saying state regulators are close to awarding the Amaya Gaming-owned brand a licence.
Amaya has a deal in place to become the online presence for the Resorts Atlantic City, with the land-based site set to commence operations once PokerStars gains approval from state regulators.
“Resorts owner Morris Bailey says regulators are close to finishing PokerStars approval process, says he expects to be pleased with outcome,” Kramer tweeted.
Bailey’s comments come after Amaya chief executive officer David Baazov earlier this month predicated that PokerStars would be operational in New Jersey by autumn of this year.
Resorts already offers online gaming services in New Jersey in partnership with both Sportech and NYX Gaming.
According to a further tweet by Kramer, Bailey stated that if the Amaya brand were to gain approval in New Jersey, then Resorts would construct a new live poker room with PokerStars branding.
“Bailey says Resorts will build big PokerStars poker room if PokerStars approved,” Kramer tweeted.
