William Hill chief joins Responsible Gambling Trust

JamesHendersonJames Henderson, the CEO of the UK’s largest bookmaker, William Hill, has been appointed as a trustee of the Responsible Gambling Trust.

Henderson will replace former Ladbrokes chief executive Richard Glynn on the board of trustees at the British charity, which is committed to minimising gambling-related harm.

The trust explained that the appointment of Henderson would “maintain a balance between industry and independent trustees on its board.

Henderson said that his appointment would give him “an opportunity to participate first hand”, demonstrating his and William Hill’s commitment to responsible gambling.

He added: “Responsible gambling is a key area that requires continuous focus and improvement and, therefore, I’m pleased to be able to combine my experience and knowledge with other trustees to promote responsible gambling over the coming years.”

The trust’s chairman, Neil Goulden, said: “Industry representatives make an important contribution to the work of the Responsible Gambling Trust and Richard was an excellent and collaborative Trustee committed to helping the Trust to fulfil its charitable objectives.

“I know that James will be no less committed and will prove an important industry advocate for our work to minimise gambling-related harm. In recent years we have had representatives from Coral and Ladbrokes on the Board of Trustees and James will ensure that we continue to benefit from the experience and knowledge of bookmakers.”
