Online Betting and casino operator Betway has entered into a partnership with the Professional Players Federation (PFF) in an effort to boost its commitment to protecting sporting integrity.
The PFF is an organisation that focuses on promoting, protecting and developing the collective interests of professional sportspeople in the UK.
Under the new partnership, Betway will actively contribute to the PFF’s sports betting integrity initiatives that benefit more than 5,000 professional athletes in the UK each year.
Support from Betway will help fund specially trained tutors and customised e-learning programmes that focus on the dangers of match fixing in professional sports.
“Sport in the UK has a phenomenal record of stamping out match fixing, but we are all aware of the dangers and temptations that young professional sportspeople face,” Betway chief executive officer Richard Akitt said.
“British sportsmen and women are some of the best educated in the world about the dangers of match fixing, and Betway are proud to support the PPF in their efforts to improve upon their already sterling record.”
Betway already undertakes various activities that help protect sporting integrity, including its decision last month to sign up as a member of international sports betting integrity body ESSA.
PPF chairman Brendon Batson added: “Education for athletes is one of the best defences against the threat of match fixing and it’s great to see another leading betting company supporting this important work.
“Betway’s support will enable us to expand the reach of our education work to include more sports and reach more athletes.
