Scientific Games appoints Smail to chief legal role

Scientific Games has confirmed the appointment of David Smail as an executive vice-president and chief legal officer.

Smail will replace Katie Lever, executive vice-president and general counsel at Scientific Games, who will remain with the company until the end of August to ensure a smooth transition.

Smail joins the company having most recently served as executive vice-president and general counsel of Morgans Hotel Group, where he also held the role of chief legal officer from 2006 until 2014.

Earlier in his career Smail also spent time as executive vice-president and group general counsel at advertising and communications services company Havas.
