Betting exchange Smarkets has signed a wide-ranging partnership with Sky Bet Championship club Queens Park Rangers FC (QPR), which will see its branding appear on the team’s kits and provide the operator with naming rights to a stand at the club’s Loftus Road stadium.
In its first sponsorship deal, Smarkets has been named QPR’s official global betting partner, while its logo will appear on the back of the team’s shirts and shorts during all league and cup fixtures this season.
The operator has also been designated the club’s official training kit partner, with its branding to appear on the first team squad and management kits in all competitions.
Perhaps most notably Smarkets will become the sponsor of the Ellerslie Road Stand at Loftus Road, which will be renamed the Smarkets Stand. This name will be visible on LED screens during matchdays.
As well as sponsoring the team, Smarkets will also offer 0 per cent commission on all QPR matches throughout the season, which it claims is “unprecedented” value from a gaming company. All activities and promotions put on by the operator will be publicised via a dedicated fan portal.
“As a rapid growth company we wanted to find a partner that share’s our desire for success, and is representative of our company ethos,” Smarkets chief marketing officer Alex Wheldon said. “QPR have provided Smarkets a wide-ranging sponsorship agreement across many of their key assets that are precisely in line with our mutual goals.”
QPR’s commercial director Euan Inglis added: “We are extremely proud to become the first ever sponsorship partner of Smarkets. Our objective has always been to partner with companies that are consistently competing at the highest level and we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.”
