Fantasy iTeam reports ‘unprecedented’ traffic on mobile app

Fantasy iTeam has revealed its fantasy football mobile application experienced “unprecedented” levels of traffic during the opening weekend of the new English Premier League season.

The company reported 20 millions page impressions and more than one million app start-ups over the weekend of August 8-9, with EPL football clubs in action for the first time during the 2015-16 campaign.

Fantasy iTeam has secured a number of deals in recent months to ensure that its free-to-download app attracts high levels of usage.

Through these deals, the app has been made available via UK daily newspaper the Daily Mirror and Goal.com, the football-dedicated website owned by digital media firm Perform Group.

Phil Shaw, commercial director at Fantasy iTeam, said: “The opening weekend couldn’t have gone any better for us; it was beyond our wildest dreams.

“The number of new players and general engagement was fantastic, but we were equally as pleased with the positive feedback on our Facebook and Twitter pages, and our ability to handle such big spikes in traffic.”
