Churchill Downs appoints Marcia Dall as new CFO

US racetrack and gaming operator Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has appointed Marcia Dall as its new chief financial officer, with existing CFO and company president Bill Mudd to move to the role of chief operating officer.

Dall will begin her new role on October 12th and will also hold the title of executive vice president of the business, reporting to chief executive William Carstanjen.

A veteran financial executive, Dall has more than 30 years’ experience working for large companies and joins from NASDAQ-listed insurance broker Erie Indemnity Company, where she spent the past six years.

Before joining Erie in 2009, she served as CFO for the healthcare division of global health services business Cigna Corp, and has also worked for US conglomerate General Electric and its subsidiaries.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marcia to our executive leadership team at Churchill Downs,” said Carstanjen. “Marcia’s previous experience as a CFO of a large publicly traded company, her strong leadership skills, and her deep business experience at GE will be tremendous assets to the Company as we continue to grow.”

She succeeds Mudd, who has held the CFO role since October 2007. Carstanjen said that as a result of Mudd’s promotion to president the company had always planned to appoint a new finance chief.

“As we continue to grow and diversify our business operations, the time has come to fill the CFO position and we are extremely fortunate to be able to attract a candidate with Marcia’s credentials to join our executive team,” he said.
