PartyPoker changes to restrict unfair competition

PartyPoker changes to restrict unfair competitionPartyPoker, the online poker brand operated by bwin.party, is to introduce the first phase of changes to its service as part of an effort to level the playing field and create a fair environment for players.

As reported by iGaming Business, the brand earlier this month revealed details of some of the changes that would be made to stop players gaining an advantage over others.

As of yesterday (Thursday), PartyPoker customers will now notice two major changes when playing online.

Players wishing to wait for a cash game will join the room-wide waiting list and be randomly seated when a seat that matches their preference is available.

In addition, players joining a cash game will see the names of opponents only once their first hand is dealt.

The second phase of changes, which include hand histories no longer being made available for download and only viewable from within PartyPoker software, will be introduced in the coming weeks.

Golan Shaked, director of games at bwin.party said: “Since we announced our plans to restrict the use of third-party tools on our software we have been delighted by the response of the poker community.

“Today we are pleased to be introducing the first of those changes which will level the playing field for all players.”
