William Hill extends title sponsorship of World Darts ChampionshipWilliam Hill has struck a deal to remain as title sponsor of the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) World Darts Championship.

The deal will run for five years, from 2016 through to the 2020 event.

Under the agreement, the tournament will continue to be known as the William Hill World Darts Championship.

As part of the deal, the competition’s prize fund will continue grow each year to more than £2 million (€2.8 million/$3 million) in 2020, with the eventual winner walking away with £500,000.

The extension comes ahead of the 2015-16 edition of the tournament, which will commence on Thursday at Alexandra Palace in London, England.

“William Hill have been great supporters of the PDC in recent years and it’s fantastic that they will remain as title sponsors of the World Darts Championship for at least the next five years,” PDC chairman Barry Hearn said.

“The tournament has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and with record ticket sales and a record prize fund, the forthcoming William Hill World Darts Championship promises to be the biggest and best ever.”

James Henderson, chief executive of William Hill, added: “The William Hill World Darts Championship is now one of the highlights of the sporting calendar, and one that takes centre stage over the festive period.”
