Bengtsson takes over at Betsson

Bengtsson takes over at BetssonBetsson has appointed Ulrik Bengtsson as its new chief executive and president.

The current head of the gaming operator’s BML Group Maltese subsidiary will replace Pontus Lindwall, who has held the two roles on an interim basis since the departure of Magnus Silfverberg last year.

Bengtsson, who Betsson said was appointed because of his reputation within the company and extensive experience of digital consumer services, will continue to serve as the BML chief executive as well as now taking charge of the wider group.

Bengtsson said: “I have been a part of an incredible journey over the past four years with Betsson but I think that we are still only at the start of a structural transformation of the entire industry, which is enabled by a continued transfer of the activity towards online.

“In my role as chief executive and president of Betsson, I will continue to ensure that in the first instance the group focuses on customers, and that innovation takes place where it is important for them.

“In this way Betsson will continue to gain market share. Our strategy to grow both organically and through acquisitions remains.”

Lindwall will return to his position as chairman, having been replaced on a temporary basis by Lars Linder-Aronson when he took up the executive roles in July 2015.

“It will be great to have Ulrik as chief executive of the parent company as well as he knows the entire operations of the Betsson group,” Lindwall said.

“Ulrik has played an important role in the development and the execution of the strategies which have resulted in significant value growth for the group.”
