Intema completes Team Bloodhounds esports acquisition

Esports igaming group Intema Solutions has completed the acquisition of Team Bloodhounds, the owner of the leading Canadian esports brand, Team BH.

Montreal-headquartered Intema said the deal will enhance its presence in the esports sector as it seeks to engage with and grow Team BH’s more than 7.25 million combined followers across YouTube, Twitch, Instagram and TikTok.

After the completion of the deal, first announced in June, Intema said it will prioritise launching Team BH competition and content teams in Activision’s Call of Duty and Riot Games’ Valorant, adding to its presence in Epic Games’ Fortnite.

Under the terms of the letter of intent announced earlier this year, Toronto-listed Intema was to acquire Team BloodHounds for up to C$621,000. This included C$121,000 in cash and C$500,000 through the issuance of 1,000,000 Intema common shares.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to finalize the acquisition of Team BH,” said Laurent Benezra, president and chief executive of Intema.

“Matteo Di Penta built Team BH from the ground up, and in just three years, transformed it into a global juggernaut and Canada’s second most followed Fortnite esports team. Team BH has an engaged audience yet has barely scratched the surface as far as impact, influence, and reach in the esports space. We envision Team BH as a game-changing member of our growing esports ecosystem and are ready to help them take things to the next level.”

Founded in April 2018, Team BH has become one of the most successful esports brands in Canada, with a roster of influencers, professional gamers and streamers. Influencers Randi “BH Motion” Tetzschner, Russell “BH Poetic” Tetzschner have just signed new two-year contracts with Team BH.

“I’m extremely proud of everything we’ve accomplished at Team BH, but the work is far from finished,” said Matteo Di Penta, founder and chief executive of Team Bloodhounds.

“As a full-fledged member of the Intema family, we now have the additional resources and expertise to increase our standing in the gaming community and make our brand a household name worldwide. We have big plans for Team BH – and this relationship is only going to help expedite the process.”

In May, Intema signed a letter of intent to acquire Livestream Gaming, owner of esports betting platform Loot.Bet. The proposed deal will cost Intema C$14.75m; C$8m in cash, C$4m issued by a secure vendor, and C$2.75m in a share issue floated on the TSX Venture Exchange.

Loot.Bet betting handle was C$92.2m for the year ended 31 December 2020.
